I made a mistake when I had my 350 rebuilt and had to much cam put in (268) now I have no low end. Would it be better to put in a 2400 stall converter or 373 gears? What do you think?
If you have anything lower than a 3.36 my opinion is that you should do gears first. The only time I would consider a converter first is if the car has way too much cam (doesn't apply in your case) and can't hold a reasonable idle or is pulling through the brakes.
I'm in the same situation.. But i got the xe262 cam. I think i'm going to do the gears first, then get my tranny rebuilt next year with a converter and a shift kit
I had average low end torque (great middle) with a Comp Cam 268h, stock converter and stock 3.08:1 gear. Changed to 3.55:1 gear and it really woke the engine up and helped move the power to the low end. I did not change the converter and don't think it is needed after the gear change.
You can also jack the back end up and sping the tire once around and count how many times the drive shaft turns.. I did it last week... My drive shaft turned 3 1/4 times.. which means i have 3.08 gears if i remember correctly
