What are the lengths of the various wires (by plug :) ) for a sbc hei over the valve covers? Know this is not something you have at your finger tips, but then, maybe someone has nothing else to do other than to measure their wires routed over the top. Thanks.
Any reason why you need the info? In case you need for to buy wires to run I bought a set of summit universal plug wires that you cut and fit yourself and they came with a nice set of wire stripers for about $35. I use over, well beside actual, the valve cover looms.

Any problem crimping the electrodes on the ends? I always seemed to have a problem with this with the Universal sets. :flag
I solve the problem by buying a BBC set from say a pickup truck, and then trim to length needed, and reuse the ends....re assemble with aid of some silicone spray...and a good set of electricians' pliars....PIA to be sure, but beats hell out of high prices for same thing for 30 minits extra work...saving about 40 bux NET.....
BTW, I allways get the 90* angle plug ends....just orient them to fit...
I use wire loombs from hotrod shop....Moroso??? think so...it works...
Took me a few trys to get it right, well at least pretty good. The ign wire crimp area has a wide end and a narrow end, one on each arm. I would put the wide end towards the open end of the elec (sometimes I had to pinch them together first) then once I got it close I would reverse the crimper and finish. It seemed to work better than trying just one way or the other. Had no problems with them coming off.
I am getting ready to buy a set of Magnecores. Catalogue gives the various lengths. For a HEI, over the top setup. Would guess my 82 (I send them over the top, not through crevices, holes, etc) fits this definition. Just wondering. Eternally curious.

Like I said, Universal kits seem to be a PIA. I have not used one in years, but it still seems they have not refined that electrode crimp yet.
Forgot to add the summit ones have 90 boots at the dist while the accel's I just put on had 180. I decides to take the 90's off the old wires and redo the new since they look stupid sticking strait up plus when you go to remove the 90's you are only pulling on the elec but with the 180 it seems you are pulling the wires too. Just seemed like less chance of pulling them apart. The summit boots also fit tighter on the dist. Did I mention I am going to get another set of the summit brand? Need the 90 plug boots since I am switching to headers. :yesnod:
