Default Rear Shock distance fully extended.

My 70 sits a little high in the rear. Rebuilt everything. 6.5" stock outer spring bolts. I going to go to 8" bolts, but the shock that were on this thing before disassembly were no name 15" center to center fully extended. Everywhere I check says 14" shock are the only match. I put on Monroe and after setting her down they are fully extended with the 6.5" bolts.
Are there 15" shocks or is everyone using 14"?

I've never seen the extended dimensions given, where are you seeing this? Are your halfshafts parallel with the ground or angled upward from the wheel to the differential? What spring did you install? Can you post a picture?

If your rear end is sitting high, it's not due to the shock length. I have QA-1 adjustable rear shocks, and they are 14" extended (that is the correct length for C3 Vettes). Check your rear spring...has it been replaced?......you can adjust height (lower) by using longer spring bolts.

I have a stock 9 leaf spring. 14'' Monroe shocks. 3" half shafts. Replaced all bushing, etc. I'm going to try and make it out tonight, or this weekend with some 8" bolts and see how that works.

Setting the ride height back close to stock will make the shocks right. Sitting too high or too low (significantly either way) can cause shock issues.
