Default Windshield Frame Measurements?

When I got my C3, it had some pretty serious rust issues:

I've started correcting this- but need a dimension- from the top of the bare windshield frame (at the corner) to right above the plate where the roof locating wedge is mounted (blue line):

(Really, I'll take any usable dimension that gets me the same results, beggars can't be choosers)

Thanks very much everyone, I'm in a bit over my head,

Edit: it's not in the AIM, I've looked

This is on my 79 so from one side to the other. Will this work or do you need from different locations?

My car is a convertible so I cant help much with a measurement.

I had to replace the upper header and corners on my windshield frame. I was very fortunate that the lower frame portion and firewall stuff was good. My rocker channels had rot holes in them so I had to fix those as well. I also had to replace 2/3rds of the chassis frame.

You may want to do a little more birdcage inspection before going to much further. With the damage i see in that upper frame you might have some other bad stuff rot lurking and when combined together you may have a little more work than your expecting.

I'm with you on that- I know I have some rocker channel issues, but didn't want to lift the body off without a solid upper structure. That part's next - and I've figured (i think) out a way to lift the body off in the tinly confines of my one car garage, and still be able to work on it.

More on THAT to come

Default C3 Birdcage dimensions

Hi all. Restoring my 71 windshield frame and looking for same dimensions and unable to see respons to Davids thread. Built jig from old frame and dimensions where off by .50". New frame is .25" and t-tops sit differently in the corners one set back flush with upper frame corner and other set over upper frame corner.

Hi s,
You don't mention which corner of the roof panels are not aligned properly.
There is some adjustment possible for reach corner built into either the birdcage or roof panel.
Have you tried to achieve a satisfactory fit using those adjustments?
Regards,
Alan

Hi Alan,
I did adjust T-Tops with no change. Front corners of T-tops radius to windshield frame radius is off .125". Passenger top sets over that radius .125" and driver side sets back .125". Could be how the car sitting. Perhaps I stabilize the birdcage and body and pull off frame and restore chassis first. I wanted to get back half body work complete first before removing from chassis to minimaize mess on clean frame. I have been looking for birdcage dimensions and haven't been able to find anything nor does any of my manuals show details.

Hi s,
I've not seen and published specs for the birdcage.
On occasion folks have listed dimensions from there car but I always wonder about the accuracy of doing that based on the methods used and the likely hood that there are variations in cars now after 40+ years of use.

Is this the corner you're referring to?
Regards,
Alan

This is a 71 and I think the fit and gaps are pretty typical.
