Default Looking at used dizzy's - opinions ?

I saw a couple used distributors on Craigslist today that caught my attention:

New Chevy HEI:

http://cleveland.craigslist.org/pts/4306032067.html

and this used MSD:

http://cleveland.craigslist.org/pts/4306032067.html

My question is, assuming these fit ( I have newer !2007 GM crate engine - not stock engine), would either of these be a good upgraded from what is already on the engine? Currently it has a GM HEI distributor which is in fair condition. It works ok, but might these be a good deal and offer any improvements?

Thanks,
Jim

Any properly working distributor, properly set, will give you everything you need for a street engine. Your stock HEI is fine; spend a little time and money getting your advance curves right and call it good.

The MSD looks to be a Pro Billet unit. I paid some $400 for mine, but I am running the stock tach which requires the Tach Drive.

For $100, it's a really nice unit. You need the 6AL box to go with it.

And, of course, you'll need to be running an electric tachometer.
