What does this (broken) part do?
Btw - replaced the headlamps with Wagner halogens H5001 and H5006. They were fairly inexpensive and seem to be much brighter.

New one is about 30 bucks. If you tighten it, it will crack like the one you have. When you turn the wrench on the new one, remember, it's plastic...
I believe the switch turns the headlight warning light in the center gauge bezel off when the headlights are completely up.
The tab on the 'link', (item 15), pushes the button in to turn the warning light off. The dash light comes on as soon as you pull the headlight switch and stays on until the button is pushed in.
The switch often get broken because if you reach through the grill to push the lights up or down by hand it's the easiest thing to grab and then…
