Yes, there are Vortec heads. There are also Vortec manifolds. And in the 90s, Chevy started selling Vortec engines - they routinely come as factory equipment on the trucks. You can also buy Vortec crate engines.

"Vortec" is more like a concept. Chevy modifies the intake runner on the head and the shape of the combustion chamber to maximize the flow and turbulence in the combustion chamber. When they introduced it in 1996, they gained 30 horses.
I bought a 1998 350 p.c. from a GMC Savana. When that van was ordered new, they took the (L31) option, the "Vortec" option. In 1999, I think it became standard equipement on some engines as the new 5,3 L and others new design engine.
My new Silverado 2500 HD has the Vortec engine. It produces 300 HP with gobs of torque for hauling. Don'y know what it would be like if you put iy in a Vette. :flag
