Default 69' Sidepipe cutaway...

Like the description.....does anyone know what these look like inside the chamber?
It appears from the outside that it is a 2 chamber muffler....

Pics?

Hi J,
I believe there are two 1 3/4" tubes, each with two supports, welded into each 'shell'.
Regards,
Alan

So it is a "reverse flow"?

Those photos are for the 65-67 exhaust...not the 69....the 65-67 was straight through.....the 69 is wider and flat...which leads me to believe it had two chambers in it.....

Hi Jebby,
I agree that the 69 pipes are quite different than the mid-year pipes…. (which are wonderful too).
I believe it's the size of those 2 tubes and the 'reverse flow' (whatever that actually means in this case) that makes the side exhaust somewhat restrictive….. but OH what a sound.
Regards,
Alan

It is a wonderful sound....my father had them on every shark he had...(about 6 or 7)
I am going to go the Sweet Thunder route....the 427 has to breathe a bit....if it is too loud...I'll figure something out....but it can't be any louder than my 66' was.....

Shoot me a reminder PM This weekend I'll take a look in my original sidepipes with my borescope camera and we'll get to the bottom of this.

Does anyone make a straight sidepipe like a Hooker that fits under the sidepipe cover?

so do you have the C2 style mufflers? I only see 2.25'' listed for '69 style mufflers.

The C-3 long oval sidepipe mufflers were two tube cross-flow mufflers. the problem is they had very small flow tubes, so they were restrictive. Both flow tubes were staggered inside & they overlapped each other & cross-bled basically. To answer another question, I KNOW that a 3" OD straight muffler will fit under the OE style sidepipe covers on a C-3, but a 3.5" will NOT.
