Am trying to install a new Tachometer Cable in a 1969 Corvette, 350 Hp and am having trouble getting too the connection in back of the Gauge, does the dash panel need to come off or is there an easy way to disconnect the cable from the back of the gauge. Thanks, Cowboylar37@yahoo.com
Loosen the 3 screws under the colomn that hold the dash piece. Then loosen the 2 big bolts as much as you can and let the column come down a bit. Then on your back you have to reach up and depress the clip on back of the cable up by the tach connection. Sometimes a screwdriver or something can help.
Putting back on is simple since you just push until it clicks.
Hi C 37,
As 69FF said there's a clip that needs to be pushed in to release the cable.
When you install your new cable you just need to push it in, it sets the clip by itself.
I'd at least try to get my hand up there to release it before dropping the column since it's to the side of the column, not right above it.
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan
