Hello, I am in the processing of locating another tach-drive distributor for my vette. I have a question concerning this. Are the small block and the big distributors the same? Is there any real difference? I was thinking if there was a difference it was due to the springs in it. Oh, my car is 427.
If anyone has one that is not needed please let me know. I presently have a Accel unit(has the tach drive), but the tach drive gear on the shaft has worn out due to the bearing going bad on the case. I was lucky enough to get home for any real damage occurred. I am thinking it may be cheaper just to find the correct GM unit for my car. I have a bad feeling once I call Accel and get the cost for the parts, I will better ahead to get the correct unit for car.
Small block and standard deck big block distributors are the same.
The weights and springs are probably different for the curve but will work. You will want to curve it for your engine anyway.
