Default Borgeson question

I'm considering making the move to a borgeson steering box and have a couple of questions :

- does it clear headers ?
- is the steering response improved ?
- what is the steering ratio on these ?

- On a small block, header clearance shouldn't be a problem. I can't guarantee that but I've never seen anybody say that was an issue. On a big block it's very tight- very few have reported back, but at least one member here had to dimple his headers for clearance. I have more clearance than he did with the stock box, so I may not need to mod the header tube. I'll post results as soon as I have time to do the install. My Borg box awaits me on my workbench.

- Reviews on improved steering response have been very good.

- Ratio is 12.7:1

If you have not done so, search the forum for Borgeson
There is a ton of great info on them and installs. I found numerous members who love the product and would make it one of their top mods.

I have a couple of reasons to go to this route. First I want to get rid of the power valve/cylinder in the system. Second I want tighter steering. Third : I cannot use a rack and pinion as it will not pass technical inspection here.

Do it, you will be satisfied.
And use this joint, not the rubber-coupler that comes with the set.
My coupler started to breake after only 2 years!

I believe I have read somewhere that those solid joints cannot be used with our cars because the body sits on rubber mounts and there is too much movement, loading the lower bearing in the steering column.

Is the rag joint to unresponsive then ?

Once the streering column shaft was collapsed, what you have to do when you install the borgeson box, you can slide it in and out with two fingers. So it could be only an issue in the original configuration.

Mine did not slide so easily - it was hammer time all the way to its final resting spot.

These are Hooker Super Comps 2-1/8"on Brodix heads with a .600' raised port. Actually fit better than original box and allowed me to remove a dimple I had in #3 tube.

Road feel is much improved.
