Default 73 wire harness

Looking to rewire the engine bay on a 73, auto, ac. Looked at Painless, but they had a "universal" kit for my car. Might order the parts from Ecklers, but am wondering if there is a kit that has the connections labeled to make the install easier. Thanks guys.

Installing a correct wiring harness is pretty simple. The connectors can generally go only in one place and you really can not mess up. But it would be wise to have a wiring diagram. So if you don't I would get one...or at least a Factory Assembly Manual....which has a wiring diagram in it.

The air conditioning is a separate harness.

i'm just doing this on my 72 at the moment
bought the Lectric Limited harnesses form Willcox with their sales discount
to do the whole engine bay you need the ign, foward lamp and a/c looms
and a couple of other small item depending on emision options, i bought new park lamp socket wires as well
engine bay is pretty straight foward to change, hardest part getting the stiff old wires out
everything just lays in the correct places and wires can only go the nearest switches or senders
the a/c harness is the worst as you have to pull the passenger side dash out and remove the center console ,
then all the ducting has to be removed, as i found that the wires pass behind it all
then the loom was taped to the vacuum harness, making it difficult to get access to

i also have a coloured chart that shows all the plugs and wire colours on the different looms

Thanks for the input. I installed the Lectric Limited harness on the back half. Good stuff. I have their engine harness, guess I will get their AC harness, ign, and forward lamp looms. I have an assembly manual, the colored wire chart sounds helpful. Interior is gutted, motor not in yet. Thanks again, feel a bit encouraged.

I have good access because everything is out of the car. Adding vintage AC in place of the original system. Engine is out so I can't look at how the old stuff was hooked up. Kind of a jumbled mess at the moment. Feel like it's going to be a challenge to sort through it all.

I just replaced every harness in the engine compartment on my 73 with Lectric Limited. All off the wire lengths were perfect and the connectors pretty much just fell into the correct orientation. You shouldn't have any problems....very straight forward.

buy a complete original harness from Willcox, he has L Limited, give a forum 10% discount every day, and has sales weekly. I think he has a wiring harness sale going on now!

I just checked, 20% off wiring harnesses!

Lectric Limited is the way to go. Doc Rebuild wiring chart is VERY helpful as well.

Super easy w/ Lectric Limited. You probably want both front wiring harnesses. I changed both of mine and looking at the shape of the old one, I'm glad I did.
