Can anyone give me guidance for replacing the factory A/C, heater blower motor? The original Service Manual talks about removing the splash shield which seems close to impossible. Can I remove the egg-crate fender vent and try to gain access through there? I take it I’m removing the right side cover that faces the inner fender well? Any help is welcome – thanks.
the splash shield is on the bottom, removed by 2 bolts on inner fender and removing the outer chrome shield to expose the reaming bolts(2 I think). The motor can drop out thru that hole. Not much room to work on it.
On a '71, just remove the 'eggcrate' panel on the right fender for access. You may have to just loosen a nut and rotate one A/C part slightly to get the blower motor out that way (if you just crack the nut a bit to rotate the part, you will not lose any refrigerant). But, I've done it on mine and it's not that difficult.
There is one nut on a stud at the bottom of the eggcrate panel (on the inside of the fender) and two Phillips screws at top on the outside of that panel. Then just tip out the top of the panel and lift it off that bottom stud. (refer to AIM for good reference drawing)

Thanks for your help. Feel free to laugh at me or throw a tomato at me but the problem was a loose wire. I know, I know, but it was just really hard to see, get a flashlight in there and my hand. But I do appreciate your response, thanks again.
