Default Front viewing parking camera

Has anyone installed a forward viewing camera to keep from hitting those darn cement parking bumpers? How did you power it up for viewing? I assume you need a second AV port in the scream.

I got a screen from Amazon that can be switched between 2 cameras. I also got RF transmitters and receivers so no wiring is needed between the cameras and screen. You can tap switched 12V from the fuse box to run the screen. I ran an aux 12V supply to the nose for the air horns, driving lights, halogen headlights (through relays) and camera. Each system is separately fused as well as the main wire.

Now I'm thinking of using a camera as a rear view mirror but the license plate is too low for a rear view and a high mounted camera won't see those stinking 3' high concrete parking lots posts. 2 screens probably won't fit, though.

If I can find time to work on the car.

I installed a front view camera on my F150. I love it. I got it from these guys:

https://camera-source.com/

I can turn it on manually or have it come on at speeds <5mph. I use it for parking in tight spacers with other cars. It would not do to roll up onto a Prius.

They do have a universal kit and a screen in the rear view mirror.

If I were to do such a thing on my Vette I would go with the backup and front cameras.

The system I put together cost around $60 - shipped (Amazon Prime). It's probably no where near as sophisticated as the kit but I don't drive the Vette much, yet.

I just flip my headlights on. When they pop up, I can see them, and I can tell where the front of the car is. It's worked pretty well for me, so far, and hasn't cost a dime. Well, maybe wear and tear on the headlights...

Sounds like a good theory until someone drives into the nose because they can't see it before they drive away.

How's someone going to drive around the nose of the car but cut short and hit the nose when it's pointed into parking curbs. Drive over the curbs? Same applies pointed facing into a fence or a sidewalk or a lawn.

I plan on fitting a truflex nose in the future. While I am at it I will trial fit sensors/camera under the nose. I have had 2 people damage my nose touch parking because they were to cool to get out and check.
I like retro style stereos so I'll probably go with a screen in the rear vision mirror similar to the one below.

fyi you can also get tyre monitors that relay info to most screens.

I was never worried about ME knowing where the nose of the car is when parking. I was scared to death of the guy parking in the opposing spot nose-in. He/she has no clue where the nose of my car is. Therefore I never parked nose in where someone else could do the same in front of me. If I had no choice I backed in or found a light post that would be between me and Bubba.

There is a product called Curb Alert that I am looking at. Not a camera, but a lot cheaper than some of the alternatives.

You could mount a couple of these up front.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/WESTERN-SNOW-PLOW-BLADE-GUIDE-MARKERS-W-FLAGS-P-N-59700-STOCK-1308210-/180966566515?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2a2272aa73&vxp=mtr

I usually back in.

Default Curb Alert

Curb Alert is what you need. It will tell you when to stop when comming close to a curb or any other object in the way.
