Default Update on windshield replacement

Had the glass man come today and pull the windshield out. Frame is in remarkably good shape! Very solid!! I took off the interior trim (not the chrome T-top molding) and it is all still solid with factory paint intact. Even the front of the frame, where it meets the body behind the fender is rock solid. What luck!

Some areas of pitting which I wirebrushed and hand sanded. I put some JB Weld (thin layer) over the areas and then sanded it smooth. It came out very nice.

I will paint the exterior of the frame with either POR-15 or an epoxy primer later this week and then he will install the new windshield thereafter.

Two questions for you guys...I have to order new weatherstripping pieces that go up along the windshield frame. Any suggestions? Also, is POR-15 in any stores yet or do I need to get it off the internet?

Thanks for all of your input. Things seem to be going along nicely so far!

Glad to hear it is going well. I also had a great experience with my replacement. I also didn't have any rust, just cleaned it up and primed/painted the frame. I think you have to order the POR-15 via internet. I got all of my weatherstripping from http://www.corvetterubber.com
You can buy a whole kit or individual pieces. That was 2 yrs ago and it is holding up very well
