I have a '77 with cruise control. I want to remove/bypass the cruise control.
I have confirmed that both the current cables are good (spins with a drill from the trans to the module, and spins from the module to the speedo).
I see several vendors "2 piece" cables without cruise.
What is my best option--buy an upper and a lower?
Can I buy just a lower and use the "cruise control" upper?
Is there a one piece replacement available?
I will EVENTUALLY convert this to a manual trans--should I just get the manual cable now, and save myself the trouble later (will the manual cable work with the auto)? I know the attachments would be the same, but the manual looks like it has a "pre-bent" sheathing on it that I am not sure would work with the TH350.
the manual cable runs from the right side of the trans across the firewall to the left side of the car, the auto cable runs up the left side of the car, so they are different lengths.
If everything works fine now, I would just worry about it when you replace the transmission

That's the problem...I have no speedo right now...it works with a drill....both cables test OK...I think there is a problem with the driven gear in the trans, which I will be replacing in the next couple of weeks...'
Have not tested the cruise module at all, but am assuming I will just bypass it to be "safe"...
Replace the trans gear. If the speedo works then leave it alone. If it still doesn't work then buy the cable and cover for a car without cruise or replace the cruise unit and use the original cables if they are indeed OK.
