Take a look at MSD-8428 and/or talk to Lars and get a copy of his timing paper. A quicker curve will help out quite a bit with low end power.

Lars may recommend a different kit; I defer to his opinion.

What springs are you running, I find that the light weight springs in the kits I've used add a lot of the mechanical at idle. You could test this by adding one or both medium or heavy springs and idle the vehicle. I'd bet you'd find a lot less advance or atleast that's what I've found. Good luck.

A picture is worth a thousand words. What about those little bushings over the pins the weight sits on. If they're missing, can allow it to have too much movement.
