Pulled the body off on Sunday am. My dad came in and gave me a hand. I used my engine hoist & a body lift kit. I added a strap from the D ring to the bottom of the radiator support to give the nose a little extra support. Went very smooth & happily there is no rust on either the birdcage or the frame - ( sorry daves_rusty_75 :) ). Even had my teenage girls out in there PJ's to make sure nothing was swinging arround. ( Don't even ask for pics!!! )
Started cleaning the frame last night & most of the original paint is still in good shape. All the body mount markings & frame stencils are clearly visible.
Now the fun starts.
Looks good. I was planning to use the body lift straps, and my cherry picker to pull the body as well. I only have a couple of more things to disconnect before I'm ready. Did you have to remove the tank, or did you have enough room to lift the body over the tank?
First - the daughters are off limits - doesn't matter how old you are
Second - thanks for all the nice comments - reading what you guys have done really makes it easier to take the plunge.
Mark - the tank was already gone when I got the car, but I don't think it would have cleared. I had the boom extended almost all the way & I just cleared the frame. If the wheels were off or flattened - probably.

Now think about this seriously, if you wanted ANYONE to date your daughters, wouldn't it be a young corvette owner that has enough sense to post on corvetteforum? Sounds like the best of both worlds for dad ;)
