Headers to exhaust pipe problem
Finishing restoration of '70 conv, sb, 4spd. Engine mods brought hp to over 400, so installed McJacks headers which have 2 1/2" flange. New exhaust system is 2 1/2" also but has a 2" - 2 1/2" front pipe to connect to std 2" exhaust flange. Anybody sure whether I can substitute (for example) a '65 365hp exhaust pipe which is 2 1/2" at manifold flange?? Could really use help here.

That probably wouldn't be bent correctly to fit without cutting and piecing. Patriot or McJacks may have an adapter pipe to hook up the factory exhaust. I know Hooker has then for connecting their long tube headers back to the factory system as I have that on my 77.

I had an issue back in the day hooking a set of headers up to my stock - thru - the -crossmember exhaust on a C-2, After years of messing around, I finally took it to an exhaust shop and for a few bucks, he made me the correct pipes and I never had to mess with them again. Just a thought.
