Default Windshield washer reservoir+pump

Ok, I went to tech inspection yesterday. Got a remark about my windshield washer not working. Not that I didn't know that, but the pump is shot. Already had a replacement pump and tried to exchange it yesterday.

First : it was a PIA to get the old pump off. I finally had to resort to cutting it off, since the nut inside the can would turn.

Now I cannot seem to get that damn nut on the new pump. Any trick to this ?

We used a deep socket on an extention bar with a universal joint on it and it was a bit awkward.

Put the nut in the socket and place in through the neck of the bottle. Get it roughly in place and then fit the pump in bottom of bottle, should all come together.

We did this on our 77 with the bottle in place. ( loose but still in fender area )

I remove the reservoir and turn it upside down and then use the socket/swivel method that "1977 vette" mentioned.
