Looking to replace my non functioning 68 wiper motor with an electric one and wiring to an under dash switch. Which wiper motor would be best to use so that hookup is the same? is a 69 motor interchangeable or what other years? Thanks
Need to clarify my question in hopes of getting an answer. My interest is in putting an electrical wiper motor in place of the original for my 68. Simply put,I plan to wire it directly to a dash mounted switch- totally by -passing the original system. With a cowl hood,my car does not have the vacuum operated hood grills and door assembly so I'm guessing that another year motor would work for me.- simple power and ground I HOPE!! Thanks Paul
If you have the original in your 68, it is electrical. I'm a bit confused by your question, because it seems to me that you could do what you are proposing to do without buying something else.
Didnt realize that it wasn't vacuum operated but I guess the vacuum system is just for the wiper doors. If I can run wire for a separate switch,I'll give it a shot. need to look at the schematic- there are several plugs and connectors there.. Thanks for the help
Just thought of something: all 68-72s with the wiper door have a wiper limit switch under the hood. It trips and actually powers up the wiper motor once the wiper door has opened.
See what you have and how the PO may have gotten around the limit switch.
