Never did a brake job before but I'm going to try it this weekend,I want to replace the frount rotors and padsI only have two quick questions..1 Are the pads inter changable? Or are they specific per wheel like inside and outside? Second The retaining pins, are they lubed with a special typ of anti-seize compond or are they installed dry? Thanks will let you know how everything turns out Sat. Night
All of the pads are the same. Use a little anti sieze onthe pins. Taking the wheels off takes longer than replacing the pads. There is a tool available to hold the pistons back that makes it extra easy. Pad replacement should be a piece of cake. Use stock G/M pads or be ready for some serious squeeling. Others may have different ideas....
It is OK to just scuff them with scotch brite or fine emery cloth.. You will find that the rotors are riveted if they are Original. The general opinion is NEVER turn the rotors. Because the calipers squeeze from both sides and the caliper itself does not slide like most systems, run-out become a factor and if the rotors are turned off of the car there may be enough run-out that it will "pump air into the system and you will not have a firm pedal.
