Door Panel Manufacture
I was looking at some door panels on CL, the seller doesn't know who the manufacture was. The backs are "pressed cardboard" like OEM, is there any other manufactures who used this material? The fit is for 1970 thru 76 but there is a stamp on the back that has a manufacture date of 1981 0r 83, could these be made later by Corvette for dealer stock?

Originals used the pressed cardboard like stuff. I do not know who made them for GM. 81 or 83 could be GM service replacement panels.
If they're in good shape and you want them, you'll probably be okay.

I see the fiber board backed door panels with the date stamp era you describe for sale at Carlisle and on E-Bay.
If you want the original type door panel, and they're in very good condition, and not too exorbitantly priced, they could be a NICE find.
One thing I do see on occasion is that the panels were stored stacked and not in individual boxes. This leads to the panels having depressions in their surface from the back side of the panel stored on top.
