Trying to start my '79 engine..Starter issue?

I removed all the plugs to get oil pressure and the engine turns over well. This is where I checked for and had spark. I put all the plugs back in and now the starter barely turns the engine over. I took out one plug on each side of the engine and again the engine turns over well.
Could it be an issue with the starter that it can't overcome the pressure in the engine to turn it over enough to start? What else could I be looking at that would cause this? I really wanted to have this running today.

NOW...it all depends on what you did when you removed the distributor.
DID you remove the cap and notice the way the rotor was pointing???? And did you put it back in the same position???
DID you spin the engine when the distributor was out???? If you did...there is a problem where you need to find number 1 firing position and re-set the distributor...or at least verify that the wires are correct and the cap is correct to fire number 1 cylinder.
