there are several manufacturers and so several trade names. most tint shops should have it, but i had a couple with b.s reasons they didn't have it. the guy that did mine said they just don't want to do it because its hard to work with.he did the Vette twice before he nailed it but it was his first time using it.
My new carpet came with a 3/8" felt backing. I installed reflectix on the bare floorboard by cutting it to fit. Then I used heavy duty aluminum tape to hold it to the floorboard.....then used more aluminum tape to bond other cut-to-fit- pieces unti the interior was covered from under the windshield completely to the tail light area before installing the carpet...it took about 10 hours for the insulation and another 10 hours for the carpet to be laid......

Nice job DG !
That's exactly what I did to my 77 also, only I didn't do behind the seats. That, along with a hot water cut-off valve, two 24"clamp on heat barrier's on the exhaust pipes from the exhaust manifolds, heat shields behind the pedals on the exterior of the car, and the best thing of all was a pop out rear glass conversion. The car is a lot more comfy now than before. Have fun !

I'm learning from the best.........10 hours of reading great threads = 5 hours of doing a repair correctly! (I even insulated the underside of the rear deck)
Its called the universal kit. You will have to adapt the controls *****. Your 81 has the same controls as my 78. As far as install its not an easy swap out.
