2 questions:
How do I remove it, I felt around and Can't find any mounting bolts,
and if I take it off will it give me access to the duct between the blower and evaporator.
I'm looking for blockage, I have no airflow to the cabin.
This seems like a good place to start my search.
Thanks!
- Jay
The blockage you have is most likely in the evaporator case. I never got mine clean until I split the evaporator case. It was packed with mostly leaves at the bottom.
I've had NO air since I got the car, so I'm hoping the stock system will suit my needs. I never drive it with the roof panels on, just want a little cool air around my feet.
I couldn't get the evap case open either, I found 4 screws, could get to 2. I'm sure there are others. That's why I'm starting with the blower.
You could have blocked plenum. Or, your HVAC control system could be on the fritz. If there is no vacuum reaching the main air inlet door actuator, there will be no outside air coming into the car. AND, the ductwork door system would not function properly.
Check the system out to see exactly what is wrong with it. It's possible that a low dollar fix could solve your problem, rather than ditch what you have and spend big buck$ on a new system.
The best info source on your system would be the Chevrolet Chassis Service Manual for your model year.
