Erratic Vacuum?

Erratic Vacuum?
I was checking the idle mixture again today and noticed the vacuum is fairly erratic and then all of a sudden becomes quite erratic. This is using an old school quality vacuum gauge and plugged into the manifold port. It will jump back and forth 2 Hg (between 12 and 14 Hg) extremely quickly. And then is will settle back down to around .5 Hg or maybe less. Makes it kind of hard to fine tune the idle mixture.

After going through all of that, the best that I can tell is that I may possibly have a sticky valve. The only thing that confuses me is what I am seeing is a smaller but much faster amount of "flicking" of the needle and then it goes back to what is typical for a performance cam, which I do have a mild performance cam in it.
