17x8 18x10 torq thrust backspacing
New member here, I have poured over hundreds of pages regarding backspacing and TT2 wheels. It seems that off the shelf 17x8 with 4" backspacing will work for the front no problem. The rear 18x10 off the shelf tt2 has 5.75 BS I am wanting the PVD chrome so custome wheels are not an option. Every post with C3 running 18x10 in the rear they are running between a 5-5.5" backspace. My question is are there any C3s running the off the shelf 18x10 tt2 with the 5.75 bs? If so are you using spacers etc, from what I have read the ebrake bracked fits inside an 18" wheel with only the cable being an issue. Surely not all the 18x10 tt2 on this forum are not custom 2 peice wheels. At least a few pics I have seen appear to be PVD chrome which tells me its an off the shelf wheel with 5.75" backspacing..

Ditto with an added what do you plan to use for tires.
I want to keep the 27" size. I'm looking at 285/40-18 and while there are a few options it's not many.
The Goodyear has been on back order for a while now.

You're getting some contact with 5.5" bs.
Seems like 5.75" bs would only be worse.

Good to see an actual image of where it contacts. I have 285/40/18 Toyo's on a 9" rim with 5" backspace. Mine don't rub quite as bad as the last image, just a slight 'polishing' of the surface with no damage to tyre and they don't rub in the other position indicated. I think its a generic issue running sticky tyres, cornering hard with the trailing arms perhaps flexing or too much 'give' from the pivot points. Perhaps a case for 'poly' bushes rather than rubber. I have measured the clearance between tyre and contact point and with my combo its approximately 3/8"! - so I can't see how 5.75" BS would work - unless of course narrower tyres were used, 265 or 275/40/18?

I've got the PVD 17 x 8 wheels, but can't remember if I went 4 1/2" or 4". Based on the above, it seems like the 5.75" with 1/2 - 3/4" spacers would work fine....???? The only concern would be how far the tire sticks out. Here is a pic of my setup in the back....not much room for wider tires.
I too would like to see this because I've often thought about putting wider wheel/tires on the back once my LS swap is done. The PVD finish is awesome!

The reason I chose my rear set up was specifically because the rear track would be the same as stock. The rear tyres do not foul the rear fender lips. Larger offset or use of spacers will mean potential clearance issues if usingbwide rubber.

I was planning on 4" backspace on front (same as you) and 5" back space on the rear. I wouldn't use spacers if you can avoid it. If you get your wheels and have to put in a 1/4" or so spacer (to keep from rubbing) then fine. But I wouldn't order wheels knowing that you will need spacers. It's better to special order the correct backspace (my opinion).

My car has TTII's polished aluminum with BF Goodrich G force t/a KDW’s. The fronts are 17X8 245/45 4”BS and 18X10 275/40 5.5”BS I do have offset trailing arms, not sure they are needed.

Did you have to change the leaf spring for a shorter one for the offset trailing arms? Always wondered about that...

I put in a dual mount spring from VBP. it is a little shorter than a stock spring and never tried the stock spring with these wheels.

Mine has the F41 suspension option - spring ends fit within wheels - the anti roll bar though rubs the tyre. I removed mine and run without it. There are mixed thoughts about this - some say replace with custom shorter and thicker (stiffer) bar - others say roll bar isn't needed. I go with latter school of thought. On the basic that rear rubber contact area is significantly greater than stock, along with better gas shocks and a higher spring rate I don't think the roll bar is needed. Others will argue the point!

thinking of going with a similar set-up for my 68Where'd you find the rear wheels with the 5.5 backspacing? I can't seem to find them, checked out Wheels for Less and ebay, maybe I'm not looking in the right place
