What to check?
Hello everyone, It looks like I may go with my buddy to check out the 1972 Corvette that I posted about earlier. He seems to think that the guy may be willing to negotiate price due to the condition of the car.
My question is, When we go to check the car out what should we be looking for? Where should we look for it? How do you check it?..WHEEEEW, that sure sounds like a loaded question. He is not terribly concerned about the engine and trans as he is building a 406, and has a 700r4. The main concern is about rust. We realize that the frame should be checked but, where on the frams are the most problems and how do you check it. Also what about around the door hinges and windshield frame/ I am sure that LOTS could be written about this but, any info would be a big help.
Also, are there any good books that car take you step by step thru a frame off resto? I have built kit cars in the past so, I kinda have an idea of whats involved but, it is always nice to have reference material.

there is a decent checklist in How to restore and modify your 68-82 corvette by richard Newton. it's a good basics book
