If you told Ecklers that this was found 'behind the radio', I'm not sure you can blame them for not knowing.
Before you declare that you stumped Ecklers, you should at least give them a fighting chance with an accurate description of the part and its location.
I've heard of several cases where the car alarm was installed in the back of the car, haven't heard of one anywhere else, actually. Oh, and yeah, the whole "mounted near the radio" thing is extremely misleading. I took one look at the pic and said "That was INSIDE the car?"
C-3's have the alarm horn mounted on the gas-tank side of the bulkhead separating the rear wheel well from the aft-body of the Corvette. It is mounted in very close proximity to the antenna above the left side muffler. This is what the Alarm horn looked like from '69 - '75 After '75 the horn changed to the more traditional style horn in the same location.
I believe early 77's were by the antenna and late were mounted on the firewall by the fuse box.. but I can't confirm it.. Yet.. maybe someone with an early 77 will chime in.
I could see mounting the loudest alarm you could find INSIDE the car. If it were outside the car, I could slide hammer the ignition and go, inside, I don't think a thief could tolerate it. YOU might forget once.....
