After my cowl induction vs snorkel ( thanks to all who replied) My next question is..... how about Extrude-hone the factory exhaust manifolds? (1975 L48) No header hassle's; ease of plug acess; sleeper appearance :yesnod: . is the L82 the same as the L48? Maybe hone a set of those and put them on a L48 motor. I am thinking of a sneaky way have a great car that can also put a red, white and blue fist down a honda's throat and say " Nah... I'ts basically stock"  . Thanks
Re: Another "Thinking" question ... Sorry! (OnlyC3-4me)
Forgetaboutit, allmost anything in way of headers is much better than those cast iron clunkers, and as for plug access, route the wires over top of the engine and with headers, life becomes much more simple....they went under because of the rams horn design and shielding for AM radio static...now a daze no one listens to AM radio,,..so it's a non issue...
The exhaust manifolds for the base/LT-1/L-82 are all the same except for whether they are drilled and tapped for the smog fittings. They are all 2" outlets. There are repro 2.5" ramshorn manifolds, but as to increasing power...well, I really doubt you'd notice. Extrude hone can be beneficial but the cost/benefit ratio is way too high to make this a practical consideration even if you do have deep pockets. The factory exhaust manifold don't exactly suck but, from a performance perspective, they do not compare favorably to tubular headers.
As was mentioned above, if you're really interested in improving your exhaust efficiency, you don't have any choices other than headers. If you're bent on cast iron, I suggest you look into the Sanerson iron headers.

Hmmmmm. Ok. That idea is out soooo... how about a good header choice? Wasn't there a factory tubular header in the late 70s early 80s? If not, I will go to aftermarket ie Hooker ect but with the ceramic coatings
Re: Another "Thinking" question ... Sorry! (OnlyC3-4me)
You know, desmog your stock L48 (for test purposes only, of course ;) ) and it'll beat any ol' Honda with big stickers and a fart pipe. The Vette has something no ricer does -- torque! :chevy
Re: Another "Thinking" question ... Sorry! (OnlyC3-4me)
When you go with headers, just buy the basic un-coated headers and then go to http://www.techlinecoatings.com and check out their cermakrome coating. It is a ceramic coating that polishes to a nice aluminum finish. It costs about the same as jet-hot coating with the looks of chrome. Just a little FYI, I don't know if you've thought about this, but if you go to a good set of aftermarket heads you can very conceivably pick up 100hp at the crank. They wouldn't look too obvious, especially to a ricer, and they are one of the best "bang for the bucks" Almost everyone here will tell you that the stock heads flowed for crap. Of course, new heads would definitely require headers.
