82 Hatch Rattle
Well, I'm happy to say I (finally) took my 82 CE out of winter storage a few weeks ago. I've missed her, and she brings joy when I drive her except for one thing: the hatch glass. It rattles over EVERY little bump in the road. Larger bumps make a disturbing CRACK noise. I'm guessing it's the latch pins (the right one sounds worse) but before I dig in, I want to know: what is the PROPER procedure for adjusting the hatch glass to end rattles?
Thanks in advance!

I have hands on experience with this same issue. The soft hinges separate over time and the easy way to tell is to look at where the rear pins are hitting in the hole at the rear. When the hinges open up the glass works downward and the pins will start to hit the plastic trim. The glass also raises in the rear halo area and eventually you'll start leaking.
I can't tell you how many rear hatch weatherstrips have been sold only to have the customer tell us the diameter wasn't large enough. We have experienced this with both the NOS and the current reproduction weatherstrip. The weatherstrips are not the problem the car is.... convincing the customer that is the hard part.

I have a Hurco so I can make these from steel... but I need a pattern...
Guessing is not an option though... so someday we'll find one and roll with it.
