the car backfires and falls on it face under load. I can run through the gears (its a automatic) and it runs better. this seems to happen after it warms up.
I have
1. rebuilt the tranny
2. cleaned and rebuilt injectors, they have a perfect spray now
3. changed plugs, cap, rotor, fuel filter.
no check engine light comes on, I am stumped any help would be appreciated.

Man....it could be so many things. Some basic and simple to fix others not so simple.
You have to be sure everything is set right for starters. Answer some questions for us. Have you played with any of the settings on the TBI's? Have you messed with the timing? Are you missing any parts on the crossfire or the engine?
how many miles are on the motor?if everything electrical checks out ,pull a valve cover off and see if rocker arms arm traveling as much as they should .cam or plastic timing gear or chain.
Sounds more like a timing issue, go through the "sticky" in the above section, hopefully that will help you out. Be sure to check the ignition module in the distributor, it must have lubrication between the bottom of the module and the plate it attaches to. Not saying that this is the problem, but it could be that when the module heats up, it may be shorting out and altering the timing, therefore causing the backfire. The only other item I can think of is that there is a fuel related problem that may be creating the problem.......Tom

Timing! Keep bumping it up and take it for a test drive after every move. You'll be surprised where your timing marks are when it finally starts running good!
