Default Rear end gears??

Just threw a new top end on my 75, had to go with a higher torque converter from monster transmissions. wouldn't mind rebuilding the rearend but what would be a good gear ratio to go with, to still get easy smoke on the tires but not too high rpm cruising? Everything is stock besides converter, th400 trans any help would be great!!

3.36 will give 2700 thereabouts RPM @ 60 MPH
3.55 will give 2900 thereabouts RPM @ 60 MPH

Lots of highway I'd do 3.36
Lots of City I'd do 3.55

Rear gears are expensive and the ratio is not the way to smoke the tires or be quicker.

You need more TQ and or highly efficient high stall convertors like 9.5 inch 3800 stall. That allowed me to leave 100 yard clouds of smoke in second gear rolling at a 40 mph start with 315 rear tires.

The cheapest way is use old skinny tires and high air pressures
