I have recieved a rebuilt control valve that doesnt have a bracket that my original has...do I need to take the old one off and put it on the new one?
This is a basket case so I dont know what the bracket is for....
The bracket.. I know no practical purpose of the bracket.. it kind of keeps the hoses separated and possibly keeps them from rubbing the valve.. But different design changes over the years to the valve saw the bracket disappear. I'd not take the new valve apart, I would run it the way it is.
It's called a stone guard. If you want to use it, just remove one bolt on the new unit, install the stone guard just tight enough to be able to remove the other bolt and swing into place.Or just leave it off

Indeed.. just don't take both apart at the same time..
