Default Speedometer cable reducer

Hello,

I have a 1975 C3.
My Speedometer is not working.
I checked the dashboard side and it is OK, if I spin it with a drill, it works.
Additionally, I drove the car without the dashboard and I can see that the cable is not spinning while driving so that leaves me with the gearbox side.

My next step is to dismantled the 90 degrees reducer between the gearbox and the speedometer cable.

My question : Do I need to flush the oil inside the gearbox before doing that ? I'm afraid that when I pull the reducer out of the gear box, the whole oil spills out !!!

Thanks!

The 90 degree fitting is NOT a reducer. it is used to aid in making the speedometer cable not have to make a sharp bend.

Raise the rear of the car and USE APPROVED SAFETY JACK STANDS and remove the 90 degree fitting. Fluid will not come out even if you remove the fitting that is in the transmission. A little might...but you will not drain it all out...because you have the rear end up in the air and it CAN NOT drain out.
