I've never felt the need for the dyno. Especially here at nearly 5000 feet. My car is to pretty to tear up racing. You should do testing with an A/F ratio and something monitoring your timing. Your cam like mine should be making power clear out past 6500

Currently the engine is peaking around 5300 - that's more than 1000 RPM below this mark
Do you have your cam card? I need the even numbers and I could run it through my DD2000. That big of a cam in a 383 shouldn't have peak hp untill 6000 or so. Also don't you have 2.05/1.60's in those Dart heads? also I need to know header size.

I don't have the cam card :(. The engine builder told me that the HP is supposed to peak at 6200... And YES - the valves are 2.05/1.60's
Header size it 1 7/8's primaries and a 4 inch sidepipe (currently with CCI 2-disk inserts)
you can have "bungs"(nuts) welded to the bottom of your way big 1 7/8 headers (if you don't want to buy a spare set for testing.) Plug it after and no one will see it.
it's not a big deal; just do it!

I am thinking in putting a A/F gauge into my Vette... Would be nice to have a oxygen sensor in each primary pipe and one in each collector and hooking them up with 10 position switch to an A/F gauge. That way I could check the A/F of each cylinder and each side.. However - this would be very expensive.. How much are oxygen sensors???
I just checked the price for a oxygen sensor + harness at Summit. It's $89.95 ... So it would be way to expensive to hook up 10 sensors...
I might just hook up one in the left pipe!!
the gauge i use reads 2 cyl at once.$100
sensors 2x$20=40
8 would be 160, maybe less if you shop around.
there is no need for 10 unless you get a viper v10.
i use mine as a tool, and swap it from car to car as needed. your idea with a rotary switch is  if you don't mind spending the $$$$$$
Pro's run 8 with matching gauges and a video camera; they study the runs on replay with

I was thinking in putting one in each primary pipe (8) + 1 in the left collector and 1 in the right collector for a total reading for all 4 cylinders of each side... Maybe I'm only going to place 1 sensor in each collector and connect them to a 2 position switch to be able to switch between the left and right reading! I would replace my clock with the A/F guage. That should be enough for my needs...
ran too rich (at certain rpm's).. some major tuning is required... I will also change the carb to a mech. secondaries...
The whole setup has to be dialed in and adjusted. There is no smoke during regular driving - just at full throttle...
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
Slideshow: A Jaguar designer's personal project imagines what a modern front-engined Corvette might look like if Chevrolet revisited the golden age of the Stingray.
