Shock suggestions
New tires on the tired old thing and it's telling me time for some new shocks..
Now,,i dont need race shocks as i dont but get a tad fiesty only time to time.
Still has the tired old suspension under it from when it was built i think.
I just need something simple and cheap so that when i hit a small bump it dont bottom out and rattle.
rides kinda rough right now and the way the roads are after this NH winter we just had i would kinda like something a little more cushy .

Yeh,,kinda embarassed to say it but,,,i'm looking for a softer ride and looking for something "reasonably" priced..(cheap)..
between the Ol and myself we total over 135 years of age and a buckboard ride aint gonna make it anymore.
So,,as far as everyday auto parts store shocks go is there any preferance for something that would give a 1/2+ comfortable ride ???
I know this is a performance thread but who would know better ?

Tnx.

On the KYB and Monroe,or other brands, how can you tell what kind of ride they give without trying ?
Guess thats why i'm asking ,you cant..
Maybe i should post this in the "general" forum as it really is not performance related ?
Tnx.

Monroes are decent as well for a mass market shock looking for decent ride. Heck, I put 2001 Monroe Sensatracs Impala POLICE struts and springs all around on my 2001 Grand Prix and it rides great, not overly stiff and handles, well, like a police car.

(I also am not looking for a firm ride any more/too many bulging discs)

I was not looking for a rally car so the sport series sounded a little stiffer than I was looking for.
I planned on doing it once so I spent the bucks.
How often do we wear out shocks really on a weekend driver?
I like the ride combined with my BFG's T/A RWL radials.
I can get huskey in the turns if I want w/o getting beat up on a long ride.

I hesitated with the Bilsteins because of insufficient info from their site or the forums. While they get rave reviews, the feedback was really subjective. "Wow-love 'em" and similar doesn't explain the trade-offs - did cornering improve, or the comfortable cruising ride suffer... or improve? Also, mine has the composite rear spring and P255's which have more surface to slap around on road irregularities when cruising the beautiful back-roads. So, in the land of the unknown the Delco Premiums won out here, upgrading from two year old "Sensi-Tracks" by PO (not sure who makes but they already had issues after 1500 miles) and with no sign of regrets. Just my humble experience.
