Depending on the lifter brand, I've seen them pump up enough at higher rpm to hold a valve open if they are right on the edge of being adjusted too tight. If everything else checks out ok, you might check this as a last resort.

It sounded like the right side, I have comp cams cam, lifters, springs, rockers and pushrods. I just checked the right side valves and they are good to go. I took a little advance out of it and will run it tomorrow and then check the left side springs. This has a brand new Holley on it and I never paid it any attention but it doesn't have the plugs to check the float height. I am going to change to another set of float bowls tomorrow too just in case the back side is to low
