I really get tired of people who would have to get a 72 month loan to buy a Pinto, ALWAYS asking me, "How much will you sell that to me for?" Yea right. I usually say, "Everything not attached ( arm, leg etc. ) is for sale. Offer me enough and I'll sell." I just get too tired of that. I mean do you see a for sale sign? You can't afford to pay attention Wilber. I don't bother guys with $275,000 Diablo's and see how much they want for them. I can't afford it. OK. I'm better now.
Just had to vent. :mad
I understand you :yesnod: can't say that it had happened to me but I really understand that.
BTW nobody buys pintos on credit  they just steal'em :D

WHAT?? Who in the world would not only want a Pinto, but want one so badly they feel compelled to steal one??
I think the worst one was in a local country bumbkin bar. I kept telling Hillbelly Bear that I wasn't looking to sell my car. I hadn't thought of the non attached bit yet. Anyway after a few beers, ol' "What's a toothbrush?" anounces to all in drunk voice range, "I;m gunna buy that car, even if I got'ta offer him...10 thousand bucks for it!"
Wow whole lot of money. I was sure impressed. I said, "That might cover the motor, tires and wheels."
OK I'm not a people person. :D
actually what i hate more than that is yhe guy that says something like ...
"it must be nice to be able to afford to buy a vette...you must have money"
then he hops in his $35,000 truck!!
what a lot of people dont understand is that these C3's dont cost much at all...what costs is the upkeep to keep it nice and running good!
Had a garage sale last summer. several ppl asked 'how much for the vette?'
i said $40,000. not takers. wife asked what if someone gave you that. well, if they were that stooopid....id buy me two vettes then.
some sentimental value. my 79 has been family owned since 1980
SIGNGUY,
I almost forgot about that one! I've always found it friggin' amuzing that you can buy a couple used Corvettes or a 4x4! Or a C3 vs. 1 new VW Beatle! Little ugly boxes that will fall apart before their 5th birthday cost way more than a old Corvette. And you drive that same $25,000 Honda or $19000 VW or $35000 truck no one pays any attention at all. Go for a ride in an old C3, and just TRY to not make every numbskull in the world drool...
The whole thing boggles my little mind.
I hate the classic one. "Nice Car How much you want for it?"
Bob
if someone really said that to me......i would assume that they know nothing about vettes and tell them that its a rare 1970 harttop vert and ill sell for $80k :yesnod:
then go buy myself a comp yellow zr1 and another 70 vert
I think it's kind of funny to see the reaction when I tell them how much it would take to wrench one of my cars from my cold dead hands. Then it's usually accompanied with the inevitable list of what I've done to it and how much I've got into it, plus what their fair market value is.
But yeah, I view it as more of an ego feeder.
Strange thing is, that rusted old 68 Firebird gets more attention than my much nicer 68 Corvette. Especially from women.
A little off topic maybe...but the one car of mine that has seen the most action was a 1986 Shelby Charger. Don't laugh, the seats fold all the way down flat!
:D

On Prom night a lady in a new Wrangler asked me how I "got daddy to let me borrow [his] car." I said, no, I own this car, paid for with my own blood sweat and tears. She cried BS, and I couldn't let her know that she paid 3 times as much for her brand new Wrangler than I paid for this car.
Robert- I had a guy who thought my vette was a 2000 something, he couldn't believe it was a 74  . Maybe I should have asked HIM if he wanted to buy it  .
