Ok, so it's not a Corvette, but it's still pretty cool. My roommate has a 1946 ****** CJ-2 Jeep. I spent 9 hours yesterday rewiring the electrical system! The only thing I'm having problems with now is the voltage regulator. I've never worked on a car that has one. The unit is a Delco that appears to be about 1000 years old. It wasn't wired correctly when he bought it. (Hell the battery cables were on the wrong posts when he bought it... talk about Bubba. But anyway...) It has three posts: one says "GEN", one says "BAT", and the last one is unmarked. There are also three posts on the generator. There are still some wires on these going to the regulator, but I didn't really look at the routing because of the rest of the horrible wiring that I found.
Re: Voltage regulator question. Please help! (e3pres)

Careful now. Some of the old all original Jeeps used a 6VDC positive ground system. I thought I recalled this so I cheched out this site. http://www.willystech.com/faqs/Break...trical.html#VG
If it's totally original that may be why the battery cables seemed to be reversed. You can probably find the answer the your regulator question here.
