Default wire question

Almost there with the wiring on my 73! Ready to re install the dash ...know where all the lights and plugs go for the tach and speedo. However, I see a large gauge wire (Brown) coming from the main harness over the steering column and also a small black one attached to what looks like a capacitor. I am guessing the capacitor thing is to suppress noise??? But the large brown one is a mystery. It will plug into the much lighter black one but doesn't look correct. Any wiring experts care to share your knowledge?Name: 009.jpg

THEY CONNECT TOGETHER...opposite of what you think. BROWN WIRE to the small black wire on the capacitor.

Thanks for the quick reply...I guess when I dropped the column it pulled it apart...it sure looks like that is where it went as there are no other plugs or terminals there....just seemed odd. While I have your attention, there is also a black plastic plug (about 1-1/2" wide) with two wires (pink/black and an orange)dangling above the speedo...no obvious place to connect...I am guessing was perhaps for cruise and not used on my car, can you confirm? Thanks again in advance, Gator

I believe it is for a warning buzzer for doors not closed tight or seat belts. I know it is a warning buzzer but not positive what for. Someone probably removed the annoying buzzer.

Looked it up. It is a key warning buzzer. So you don't leave the key in the ignition.
