Default Sending unit issue help

Hello and help please for my 1972 vette . Ok yesterday I saw a small leak at one of the connections of my sending unit . As I was trying to remove the round rubbery wire that is connecting to the sending unit , I broke the round rubbery connection and now it's leaking a couple drops at a time . I feel frustrated and stupid now I should of use the correct tool to remove it but just thought that it could be just pulled out with force . So I suppose that it's not suppose to leak at that fitting if the connection isn't hooked up ? Do I need to replace my sending unit ? Also I looked on line and can't find that fitting anywhere ? I live in Los Angeles any recommendation where I can get the wire harness with the two connection for the sending unit ??

It's i believe the original sending unit that fits at the bottom of the tank . I will remove it tomorrow and see if there is anyway for me to tighten that loose fitting where the round rubbery connects and clicks in to the sending unit ( sorry don't know the name of that wire ) but I will try to see if orielys sell it because I know j&d is close on Sunday . Thx for Ur suggestion !!

Sounds like you are learning to work on your car....keep a fire extinguisher close any time you work on problems involving fuel or wiring---just to be safe! Be sure to drain all the gas out of the tank before trying to remove the sending unit/put a large drain-pan under the tank to catch any residual fuel when the unit is removed...remove the unit slowly, as parts of it can get caught on the edges of the tank hole while taking it out.

What I'm talking about is the yellow pin on the sending unit that power to ground via the sender is broken with the plug connector . Would I be able to put a small bolt that will fit into the hole of the sending unit and reuse the rubber washer and make it tight and just use a wire connection on the bolt ,would that work ??

Ok I just finish hooking up the modify fuel sending unit back up and so far so good it's not leaking from the bolt and hooked the wire ground connection up and add cover it up with some rubber . I'm not really comfortable with this set up I'm scared that some how the wire can get loose and expose and that will probably be dangerous so I will get a new fuel sending unit and proper connection in the near future .
