Default 79 horn system

Im having trouble wrapping my head around this system, in particular...when it comes to the upper steering column horn. I have shop and assembly manual. In diagrams it pictures spring, eyelet and insulator and go into lower contact asm in this order. (i bought the eyelet from ecklers w/ instructions to cut something to 3/4 of an inch. Eyelet or spring?)First problem is eyelet dosent fit in this order or the direction of eyelet indicated in diagrams. Second.. If spacer, shim and upper contact asm is held stationary by three screws , how is the contact foot able to push down onto eyelet and spring in lower asm to make contact when horn button is pushed??

Do a search for Jim Shea, he posts frequently here or you can google him and find his steering column papers, he's your best resource.

Mr. Shea's papers do not address the orientation or proper installation of spring, eyelet and bushing. Nor the static posistion of upper horn contact.

This picture may help: (keep in mind I have a 75)

Regarding the circled area in red:
1. The spring goes in the hole first.
2. Next, the contact pin (cut to the recommended length) goes in the hole large end first
3. The black plastic insulator goes in last and then you turn the slot of the insulator with a screwdriver to lock (kind of) the contact pin in place.

If you look to the lower left of the picture, you can see the contact surface "arm" protruding from the rear of the horn contact assembly. This is what contacts the sprung pin continuously. The circuit is completed when you push the horn button and that allows the spaced horn button retainer to contact the metal steering wheel/column.
