What is this wire
Hi guys, can somebody help me identify what this wire is. 71 LS5. It is underneath car passenger side by the starter. Looks like it is supposed to attach to starter but want to find out what it is first.

Do your wipers work?
If not, it could be the ground wire for the wipers and fan motor, it connects to a bell housing or starter bolt.

Hi k,
From the size and shape of the terminal I think it's the ground wire as Pb states. It looks like it's been spliced at some time.
It was normally mounted on one of the starter to bell housing
bolts.

All of the speeds of the fan motor work but it does not blow very hard. I have had the car 1 year and have never tried the wipers. I live in So Cal and it never rains here, probably would not intentionally drive in the rain anyway. Will give them a try. My alt/amp gauge does not work?

That was the source of some of my electrical problems last year e.g. blower motor and some other quirky things. Just reattach to the engine.
