80 Rear Differential Conversion question
My question is: If I change my rear wheel axle flanges to the pre 80 design, will I need to have my wheel bearings set up again?
Does anyone make a conversion half shaft, in the correct length, to mount the cast iron differential to factory 80 rear wheel axle flanges?
Thanks, Titan

I am not aware of the half shafts being different lengths for a cast iron differential versus an 1808-1982 aluminum differential. I have been doing this for a very long time and have never come across that.
As for the rear wheel axle flanges. You will not need to do your bearings because your are removing the nuts and the old axle flanges. Just when you tighten the nut with the new parts.....tighten the nut(s) to 90 lbs/ft and then tighten it further to align up for the cotter pin. Then the four bolts that secure the half shaft to the axle flanges are tightened to 60 to 90 lbs/ft. I also would highly recommend the french locks for these bolts.
