Default brake warning light

My brake warning light is on and brakes feel soft. Fluid levels are fine. brakes wont lock up when full force. Does this indicate master cylinder failure or power booster failure?

The warning light indicates a pressure difference in the system, usually from a leak. Time to look over the braking system.

If no leaks are found in the system...then careful inspection and measuring at each wheel may show incorrect, out of spec run-out tolerances which can cause the calipers to suck in air and cause for the pedal to go soft and in turn...make the 'brake' light come on.

Also...the brake warning light is also activated if you pull back on the hand brake also.
