After attending a "Good Guys" meet in Columbus, OH, I'd have to say Street Rodders.
Maybe it was a bad day, but it seemed that everyone my buddy and I ran into at that show had an attitude. Ask'em a few questions about their car and they replied like we were a couple of mechanical incompetents. A couple of them didn't even know wth they were even talking about. It was obvious they didn't build the cars themselves.
Caught checking out a '72 Lemans Sport convertible (nothing special) that was for sale because a buddy in high school had one, the guy really took an attitude with me when I told him I was only "looking"--like I couldn't afford it (he was right, not $15K for that POS). Then he started cracking on a guy a couple of rows over with a '68 Lemans vert that was for sale. The ironic thing was the '68 was in comparable condition to his and 1/2 the price. I didn't waste my time telling him that I paid way less than that for my '68 BB vert and it was in better shape before I started restoring it.
Anyway, had to vent about snobs. I don't run into rude people like that at Corvette meets. Maybe its because of all those years rummaging through swap meets for those "rare" parts that has made Vette people more humble, as opposed to the Rodders who can buy all the chrome and billet they want off the shelves any day of the week.
I wave from either car I am driving. To be honest ... I suspect some C5 drivers don't know what an old Corvette looks like, so they don't know to wave. But, I must agree that many C5s do not wave or even look at another Vette.
As far as the cost of the car and the relationship to waving or not ... I don't think it really has anything to do with it. Many 67's are worth more than my New Z06 :eek: :crazy: :eek: :crazy:
I think it is directly related to the value of the car in question. They think they are better than you, so they don't wave. You'll probably notice the same behavior with Mercades and BMW drivers, or any other car valued over $50,000.00
I respectfully disagree, unfortunetly I have met snobs with all generations and values of Corvettes and cannot decide who the biggest snobs are. :(

Re: Who are the biggest snobs? (Markm10431)
Here we drive around with the windows up, and dark tinted to boot. Hell, you probably couldn't see someone wave in a C5 with tinted windows, even if they were smart enough to wave back. :jester
IMHO, the biggest wave snobs are the C-2 and C-5 guys;
the biggest snobs period are the guys who drive expensive German cars.
:yesnod: :lol: :lol: :lol: :yesnod:
Pardon the cross over from the c4 forum, but since I built a 72 and gave it to my son as a wedding present, I feel I have a right to respond to LATNC3.
I am one of the OLD FARTS with a Vette that you speak of. I have owned a Vette since before you were born and I wave at all Vettes. Some that don't wave back are older and some are younger. Some know of the wave and some don't. This is not something new. It was the same way back in the 60's when there were a lot fewer Vettes around and owning one was a much bigger deal than it is today. Don't lump all people into a class just because some act one way. If I see you I will wave, if you are broke down I will stop, if you need help on the side of the road, it will be the OLD FART that will help you get the car to a garage and offer you a place for the night or drive to my place for tools and take you to a parts store for what you need. :seeya
I feel like an old fart (an probably am.) I wave at all Vettes. Just hard to tell with the C5s if it is a C5 or TA coming at me. With an orange coupe I stand out pretty hard and get my fair share of waves. Surprised that the Police don't bother me and some of them even wave. Will never forget my first returned wave. Bought my car in the Bay area of CA. Drove down to LA and spent the night with my brother in laws family. Next afternoon left out of LA on I10 heading for Texas and hit Palm Springs at rush hour. Got passed by a red '77 coupe, he waved out of the top. Big smile on me! :seeya :cheers:
