He has built it as a 350. There is nothing wrong with a 350. So I went to Summit and added up an engine rebuild kit with pistons, a timing set and the cam and I came up with $470 in parts. Here are some of my concerns.
* The block was cleaned and honed, not bored and it's already at .060.
* It was not decked.
* I am not fond of the piston choice because it could yield a low compression ratio being dished with 4 reliefs and stock deck.
* I would want to know the piston part number to find the specs
* I would want to know the piston to deck height to figure the compression ratio with my head combination.
If you did the work yourself would you have chosen this combination?
You are not getting to choose the parts for your application or check the machine work.
060 overbore will very rarely sonic test ok on a 350 block. Very doubtful a 327 will. The reason it was honed was it was rebuild time and could not be bored again. Honing don't remove taper. Im betting the piston to wall clearance is too big, has taper and ring seal would be questionable, if it seals now it likely won't for long. He bought cheap heads and the parts list and machine looks like a minimal effort refresh. Were the rods resized? Not on the list. Stock rods generally always need resizing. Was it rebalanced after new pistons? Not on the list. I would run.
