My first air intake looked like this, with the filter behind the radiator.

It looked nice but that diden´t work, the engine got to hot air.

So i looked if it was possible to use a stock LS3 air intake but i realized that it would not work.

So i started to build air intake #2 and i´m satisfied with the result, it looks like this:

But i had to modify a "few" things, the radiator had to be lowered 1", the core support had to be cut and a had to made a detachable piece in the core support so the air intake can be removed.

After painting the new support peice it looks ok, but i will repaint everything in the winter.

But now it´s not stock anymore...

That's looks really good, imho. Paint it a crinkle semi-gloss black and it would blend right in

bb502 I like. How did you create the first split tube? Looks great and clean.

I used a 4" pipe that i made oval in one end and welded two 90 degrees 3" pipes to it

Does your hood open normally? I think I am going to have to steal this idea and do the same.

Did you leave the fab'd section removable? I think that is what I understood your post to mean. I really like this design! If you have any other photos will you please post them up?

I had to modify the hood:

The fab´d section is removable so i can remove the air intake if necessary and i the air intake is rubber mounted.

The upper nuts to the rubber is hidden below the fab´d section

I have a stock BB hood on my car and it´s about 1/8" between the hood and the fab´d section so it´s close but it works.

But i don´t know if this modification will work on a stock SB hood

The fab´d section is about 1" higher than the normal core support
